Meet New Employees
Daniel Grant, App Developer, R-WIT
Daniel is ready to make a difference for R-WIT.
Daniel has joined the Research and Woodruff Health Sciences IT department as an application developer. He worked in the same capacity in his previous position at Gentiva Health Services. He also spent significant time as a Software Development Lifecycle analyst for a company called Wipro, that is based in India. Doing some of his training overseas, Daniel returned to the US to to work on accounts for Lexmark and Best Buy.
A native of McDonough, GA, Daniel got an IT degree at Southern Polytechic State University, in Marietta.
He likes to read, run, travel, and is a fan of TV and movies, especially mysteries.

Shoba Mallik, Applications Developer IV, Enterprise Applications
Shoba enjoys her new role with Emory.
Shoba has joined Enterprise Applications as an Applications Dev/Analyst IV and will be supporting Peoplesoft Financial system (Compass). She will be working on various projects with PS Financials, Integration Broker, and Grants.
Prior to coming to Emory, Shoba worked for Provade, Inc. for two years as a PeopleSoft developer. She also worked as a Systems Analyst for Radiant Systems.
Shoba has a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Science & Engineering) from Regional Engineering College, in Trichy, India.
A native of South India, Shoba has been in the US for the past 10 years, having also lived in Cleveland and Seattle before coming to Atlanta eight years ago. She is married with two wonderful children. She likes to read, bake, and is training to run a 15k in January.

Binny Thomas, Director, R-WIT
Binny has some big plans for R-WIT.
As the Director of Business Architecture, Binny's work will focus on evaluating the current state of processes, mostly within research and administrative areas of Emory, to help determine the future state that would enable the optimization of technology services. The goal is to maximize the efficiency and effectiveness of the business processes to create cost savings and enhance the end-user experience.
Before coming to Emory, Binny was an Enterprise Architecture consultant at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and developed the first iteration of the CDC Segment Architecture for the Laboratory Science and Services Segment. In a technology consultant role, Binny worked with several of the major consulting firms and engaged with many large corporate clients across the country.
Binny holds a Ph.D. and Masters in Physics and has done post-doctoral work at Georgia Tech. He also holds a Masters in Computer Information Systems, and recently completed the Enterprise Architecture certification program at National Defense University, Washington D.C.
Drawing, water color and oil painting are his favorite hobbies and he is hoping to find time to continue this passion and explore the possibilities offered by electronic media.

Robert Vineyard, Sr Information Security Specialist, OIT Security
Robert is here to protect us from attack!
Robert has joined the OIT Security team to provide web application security. His goal is to increase Emory's ability to detect vulnerabilities in our systems. He was the lead information security engineer of the OIT division at Georgia Tech for twelve years, so he brings considerable experience to the position. He also worked for INCOMM, a retail financial services company.
Born and raised in Sandy Springs, GA, Robert got his undergraduate degree in Computer Science at Georgia Tech.
Robert describes himself as a "recovering workaholic" and likes to stay abreast of the newest trends in information security. He is active in open-source software development communities and contributes regarding security-related issues.
